Aye Robot

Did you know that Edinburgh has one of the worlds leading facilities in robotics? At least it does now... Monday 22nd September 2014 saw the official launch of the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics at the Informatics Forum, University of Edinburgh. The centre is a collaboration between the University of Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt University and brings together scientists and engineers from both institutions to research, build, break and hopefully maintain a God like control over Scotland's future robots.

Focusing on the primary areas of renewable energy, healthcare and assisted living, transport, and manufacturing, it all sounds very helpful. However cinema has taught me to treat the idea of autonomous technology with suspicion. With the phrase 'this is how it begins' runnig through my mind I spent 20 minutes watching people get beaten by a robot playing connect 4.
I think we have time to prepare.
