History in the Recording
I do like an odd request, photographically speaking. I was approached by an international delivery company to show off a clients travelling toy. The Voice-O-Graph, is a do-it-yourself recording studio, about the size of a phone booth. Jack white is a big fan, he and the team at Third Man Records used one to cut the Neil Young record 'A Letter Home' in 2014.
This particular booth is a 1947 Voice-O-Graph now owned by Aberlour.
I was asked to show the booth in all its glory while keeping a hint of the practicalities of moving an item of this size and value, it also needed to encompass a portrait. All in the one shot.
No problem I said. I packed up my ukulele and split for Glasgow where, with some innovative lighting and substantial bursts of swearing, we got everything that was required, and a good time was had by all.
