Mother's Ruin - The Hepple Gin Feature Shoot

Earlier this summer I was asked to head over the border to sunny Northumberland at meet the good folk at Hepple Gin. I was asked to shoot a travel style feature about the small distillery that is making big waves in the Gin market.
Their website says - "Hepple Gin is the result of a unique collaboration between chef, Valentine Warner; world-renowned barman, Nick Strangeway; drinks developer, Cairbry Hill; countryman, Walter Riddell; and distiller, Chris Garden. Only by pooling their rather unconventional expertise from juniper seed propagation through to the science of distilling and taste could the founders have created this unique gin"
I spent most of the day with Valentine and Walter as we drove and hiked around the grounds of Hepple Estate ducking the midges and the mud. Almost 100% of Hepple Gin's botanicals come from the estate grounds and their knowledge and understanding of how to draw out flavour was incredible. It's not just a love of distilling gin that motivates this collective, but a drive to make the most creative and full flavoured gin on the market.
So far so good.
